"Can one run and hide at the same time?"
Run, as well,
And as fast,
Knowing that you can never run,
As well, and as fast, as your feet,
Can carry you.
Hide, as well,
As your whole body
Will allow,
Knowing that you can never be
As small,
As invisible,
As your own self can be to your own.
Drown, as well,
And as dying,
As your mind can,
Knowing that you can never be as
Dead to your thoughts
As long as they are.
Thus we all refuse happiness,
Thus we all function.
And as fast,
Knowing that you can never run,
As well, and as fast, as your feet,
Can carry you.
Hide, as well,
As your whole body
Will allow,
Knowing that you can never be
As small,
As invisible,
As your own self can be to your own.
Drown, as well,
And as dying,
As your mind can,
Knowing that you can never be as
Dead to your thoughts
As long as they are.
Thus we all refuse happiness,
Thus we all function.
Self-restraint as both an ally and a foe? Dunno. Quite bad at these things. -Stephen Paul
